BSG Rewind
I'm a big fan of the recently departed series: Battlestar Galactica. I watched the original series - enjoyed it, even with the hokey effects - it was still fun sci-fi which isn't on "enough".

Image crafted from original at Battlestar Galactica website.
I've seen the finale 3 times now and just can't get over - that it's over! Yes, it's just a TV show. But it has been a really great TV show. The cast has been great, the effects have been outstanding, and the music - well Bear McCreary's music overlaying this show has rejuvenated my interest in music after ignoring many, many years of the generic products shoved down our ears.
The team of Moore and Eick put together something that had enough connection to the past show with enough mixing up to stir up the juices to draw us in, "JUST" to see where it was going. For me, it was the very initial "release" of a screen saver (sometime the year before) that I cannot find... the Cylon sound with red light going back and forth. Then the Mini-Series came out and just set the genre on fire! When the show finally aired for a full season - the first episode "33" just set the hook and reeled you in. WOW!
Some out there might say it was hokey still with too much "religion" - but they just don't get it. BSG - this one was all about the journey of the characters. Yes, we know where they were headed - this was a remake after all. But it was more so. It was like a deeper look into the story that we were kept from oh so long ago when the first edition was canceled.
Within budget - this show - A TV Show - had better "space" effects than many current big budget theater movies. How the Vipers moved - more realistic - not perfect, but much better. The ship itself: Galactica - with the throwback look & feel of real Navy ships was great --- I know because I served on a couple.
So - having discussed the show in many bite size tweets with others - we come to this... while we are waiting on "The Plan" and "Caprica" - let's rewind the show and start from the Mini-series and tweet about it. Sure many of the shows we have seen more than once - but this will be a reasonably organized "watch" - weekly - episode-by-episode - with tweets with many others around the country. Of course, you have to arrange how & where you are going to watch it. Have some new Frak parties. Get ready to see:
- Caprica Six and the baby again
- Boomer switch on
- Tigh drink again and again
- Scream: They made Starbuck a women
- Live with the crew again
- See Pegasus arrive and wonder if you could be a Razor
- and more, right up to... well, you know - if you've seen the finale
So join us - bang the drums - turn it up. Tweet as you watch it on Friday evenings - share your thoughts like we couldn't do when BSG first started. I'm looking forward to it!
